Hope Is Where the Heart Is
CHILDÂ CARE
The uncountable children in Village Heights are living in miserable conditions.
They suffer from abuse, rape and undernourishment. They have to grow up fast and can’t enjoy their childhood, they have to look after their younger siblings and themselves. They witness irreproducible situations adults shouldn’t even go through.
They are afflicted with the coldness from the nights and the rainy days, because they do not possess the appropriate clothes. A lot of them walk barefoot, not having fitting shoes. Needless to say that not having the convenient clothes, the children are very sensitive to illnesses.
Despite the progresses, a huge amount of children still do not go to school, because either their parents do not have the money for the school uniforms or they do not understand the importance of school. An important reason is also that the young girls abandon school as soon as they fall pregnant due to rape.
In the Village Heights Community Center, we want to provide them with a shelter, where they can find safeness and joy. Beside our teaching program, we are offering a lot of daily activities, such as soccer or painting. In addition to our soup kitchen and our teaching room, we have a garden and a playground, all for the children. Our aim is that they can forget about their daily problems and take a break.
We always have an open ear for their problems. Working together with the Projects Abroad Human Rights project, we transfer our concerns and help the abused children with all our possibilities.
The children should learn that the crimes executed on them are not right and will have consequences. Â We are welcoming them with open arms and are happy about every child we can help.
The future of most children does not seem very hopeful and their possibilities to get out of it are not promising, but we take action and give them hope. They should never stop fighting and we support them in their actions towards a better future.
